A Good Stretch in a Down Economy

Executive Summary:
After a mixed second half of 2008, results were mostly positive in 1H 2009 for the 15 companies on our watch list: Awareness, Bayspire, HiveLive, Ingeniux, Jive Software, Leverage Software, Lithium Technologies, LiveWorld, Mzinga, Passenger, Pluck, Powered, Small World Labs, Spigit, and Telligent. Customer acquisition increased, revenues held strong, and hiring, down overall due to several RIFs early in the year, is now back up, which bodes well for the rest of the year. Product development continued dramatically, with new releases from virtually every company, particularly around business analytics and integration with the larger social Web (especially Facebook and Twitter).
